I am very blessed. If you are a regular reader of this blog, you will see that I (Kirby) have had my fair share of unusual or sacred or extraordinary experiences. Case in point… I just assisted in a weekend Womb Surround Birth Process Workshop where participants feel very safe to work on deep, early material. It is in fact the most supportive container I have ever encountered (and I have done a lot of Buddhist retreats / teachings / practice groups etc). To keep that more private and confidential and therefore more safe, I will say less (of course).

Then tonight I led a dream group where I got to participate in an unusual and sacred rite of sorts. A dream was shared, and moved, and embodied and sacred transmission occurred…

Which leads me to the topic at hand. Astrology and the current state of affairs: Jupiter is in its home sign of Sagittarius, along with Saturn in Capricorn (flirting with Pluto for now), and Neptune is working its way through Pisces.

It feels to me like this is the time when we are being asked to come more into our truth, to embody our power, to speak truth to power, to offer support and assistance where we can. To slowly and skillfully melt the icy tendrils of fear around our hearts and to offer a more open, compassionate, grounded presence to those around us.

We are getting ready for something to come to a head. Next year, beginning in early 2020 (February is when it starts to become stronger), Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto will be within 4 or 5 degrees of each other. This is a rare, powerful conjunction – which only happens once or twice a century.

It is time to clear out the old. The old fears and bitterness of maga are hopefully on their way out. That level of overloaded, overworked internal organs is making people sick. Time to lean into clarity, truth and support. There is hope. Time to do what we can to have a clearer connection to our Higher Selves and therefore to be able to fully trust our inner voice.

I see dozens of young people who are hungry for true self care. They are thirsty for wisdom teachings. I don’t have a lot to offer yet, but I make that aspiration. May I be a stable foundation upon which people can discover respite and resource.

Old patterns are on their way out now. The old fears represented by Capricorn’s harsh shadow are beginning to melt. The climate-first attitude of Sagittarian’s natural wisdom can be seen in numerous protests and election victories of Green candidates.

The question is, can we get the best of Capricorn’s ingenuity, building, efficiency and structure? Will we let go of this competitive, fear of lack mentality which is currently gripping a good portion of Western culture?

I pray the day arrives (swiftly) that hate-mongering, fear-spraying media is no longer watched. No longer taken into account. Time for us to stand on our own two feet and to sense into our innate wisdom. What is healthy for me? What helps me to rest down into steady alignment of head, heart and pelvis?

Will I choose the path of community, of caring, of ease and abundance? Or will I choose to do things the way my ancestors did them, the Great-Depression-orientation of “we must always be ready for the worst” (in other words, we must contract our brainstems in fear as we assume the worst)?

I would suggest bringing a realistic, pragmatic optimism to bear. When we lean into our healthy ancestors, when we trust the wisdom company which is around each of us, when we begin to establish secure connection to our Higher Selves… then hope, faith and positive surprises are the norm!

Examine your life. Examine your personality. Sense into your body. If we discover any chronically contracted areas, then this is calling out for extra support. Get the help we need and begin to move forward! The world needs us in our greatest manifestation of clarity and potency. This is our time.

Thank you for reading!

I am excited to announce that I am doing more astrology interpretations these days.  Taking a pause on school, I have lots of time to devote to my passions – Spiritual Astrology and Resource Bodywork.  If you are interested in having your chart done, email me – kirby at mkirbymoore.com  Also, I do bodywork both in person and remotely, so inquire about that as well.  Here’s a link to my website: Kirby’s website.  With that said, lets get into this post.

First of all, I could have written this post a month ago, describing the storm early and ahead of time.  But I was up to my neck in care plans and clinical hours with nursing school, so I could only watch as this storm hit some people’s charts and lives (including my own).  What is the storm I am talking about you ask?  Great question!

It is the massive T-square going on right now with Jupiter in Libra, Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries.  This configuration has a once-a-decade kind of potency to it.  And to top it all off, Mars has just come through Aries (presently at 24 degrees) heating it all up to the Nth degree!

The other planets are all earlier than 24 degrees (Pluto at 18, Jupiter at 22 and Rx, Uranus at 22 degrees respectively).  Therefore, I feel like a storm reporter who got to town late after the tornado passed through and is now reporting on it!  “The twister was here and it ran through there” (duh! obviously!!).

Having said that though, it is still going to be insightful to know what happened and why.  Plus March is my birthday month, so you have to oblige me!  Ha ha – just kidding.

Keep these degrees in mind – 17 through 23 degrees of the Cardinal signs – Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn.  People who have a personal planet (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus or Mars) or the Rising sign (and also the Midheaven) in this small window of Cardinal signs will definitely be feeing this T-square!  For instance, someone with a 20 degree Cancer rising would have Pluto opposite their Ascendant (affecting their relationships), Jupiter squaring it from the 4th (possibly affecting domestic attitudes) and Uranus / Mars squaring it from the 10th house (affecting their career / profession)!  This would be a heavy configuration for them.

So let’s take this one piece at a time.  First, Jupiter opposite Uranus.

If this transit was just happening alone, people who do not have Jupiter or Uranus personalized might not feel it at all.  Also, people who do not have a planet in a Cardinal sign in that window above, they still might not feel the T-square.

What do I mean by having Jupiter or Uranus personalized?

  • Having a Sagittarius or Pisces rising
  • Having Jupiter in the 1st / 9th house or conjunct the Midheaven
  • Having Jupiter making a hard aspect to your Sun or Moon (Jupiter personalized)
  • Having Aquarius rising
  • Having Uranus in the 1st house or conjunct the Midheaven
  • Having Uranus making a hard aspect to the Sun / Moon / Mercury / Venus (Uranus personalized)

So for anyone not experiencing any of these items and not having any planets in that tight window of Cardinal signs, you can stop reading now.  Joke joke – or continue reading and learn more, up to you!

Jupiter opposite Uranus spells at time of being more creative (but fickle) and being more independent (in a willful, rebellious sort of way).  The individual (especially if they have a personal planet in those Cardinal degrees!) will be more restless and eccentric.  Now, keep in mind that this creativity and independence can come with a price.  If you need help, under this influence, you are not likely to ask for it.  And you might even refuse it if it is offered!  And your creativity might not be able to stick to one area for very long – you might spread yourself thin and have six different projects you are thinking about at the same time!

Historically speaking, Jupiter opposes Uranus every 14 years or so, meaning this aspect is not earthshakingly rare.  Yeah, that’s not so bad right?  Right, but…

I haven’t gotten to Pluto (or Mars) yet.  🙂

Now we also need to mention Jupiter square Pluto, even though that orb is presently a little wider than 3 degrees:

Keep in mind everything I mentioned above for personalized planets.  People with a personalized Pluto (and / or Jupiter) will feel this aspect a little more.  People without any planets (or angles) in Cardinal signs may not feel this at all.

Jupiter square Pluto indicates a time of dogmatic adherence to some doctrine or objective.  And yes, if you are wondering, Donald Trump has several planets in this window of Cardinal signs – potentially making his dogmatic approach even more fanatical!  Ugh!  So this time is particularly potent (or impotent) and emphasized for the United States…

Jupiter opposite Pluto is also indicative of the ability (especially if charisma and creativity show up elsewhere in that chart) of the native to mislead people.  Donald Trump anyone?  Good grief!  This might be especially true of people who have Jupiter in hard aspect to Pluto / Uranus in their natal charts.

Jupiter opposes Pluto every 12 and a half years, so not that uncommon.

Now the real whopper, a crazy doozy of an aspect: Uranus square Pluto.  A major hard aspect (square, conjunction or opposition) only occurs between these two giants every 30 to 45 years or so.  This means that they square every 65 – 80 years or so, making this a particularly potent and rare aspect (the wide range is due to Pluto’s elliptical orbit)!

When Uranus makes a hard aspect to Pluto, there is usually a significant revolution(s) happening in the world.  And in the case of this most recent square – which started in late 2010 – the Arab Spring started around the time Uranus started to square Pluto (plus Saturn was involved).  Occupy Wall Street was the U.S.’s version of this revolutionary time.

Uranus square Pluto (in the natal chart, especially if either planet is personalized – think Aquarius / Scorpio) is often indicative of a person who is stubborn and difficult to get along with in some significant area of their lives.  Of course it matters where in the chart these planets are located – in the angular houses (1st, 4th, 7th or 10th) they would play a more prominent outwardly expressing role.

As far as the transit goes, I like to think it of it as a great opportunity to purify (negative) karma.  Saturn is known as the Lord of Karma – wherever he goes, we are forced to work on stuff.  But I would also add Pluto to that list – and possibly even Uranus.  Although Pluto and Uranus have different flavors from Saturn.

When Uranus and Pluto are in hard aspect to each other, the causes and conditions start to come to fruition for our negative karma to ripen and manifest.  And that karma will manifest when a personal planet (acting as the catalyst – like Mars or the Sun or maybe the Moon or an eclipse) crosses over one or both of the transiting planets.  Are you keeping up with me?  (Let me know if you need more clarity by leaving a comment)

It means practice self care.  Any major (read gross) unresolved traumas or psychological issues will be up at this time.  That is Pluto’s (and Uranus to some extent) domain.  It is good to work on yourself whenever it is easy or available, and definitely work on yourself each year.  That way, you can constantly be improving your awareness and your mindfulness.  That way a Uranus / Pluto square (with the attending catalytic personal planet) does not jump out and surprise you!

If we have a ton of personal growth stuff to be working on – this includes yours truly (me) – then you should not be too surprised if you become excessively stubborn or willful or rebellious during this transit.  Maybe it is a past life getting triggered (rare).  Or more likely, maybe it is suppressed or repressed anger from when you were younger (more common).  Either way, it would be good to have control of your mind and heart and to feel the stubbornness but not be hijacked by it.  Maybe it will be out of our control – a friend or loved one may become excessively rebellious, willful or stubborn and be very difficult to deal with.

So throw Jupiter in this mix and we have excessive stubbornness (Uranus / Pluto) and creativity and thinking of huge projects (Jupiter) to work on (read unrealistically huge).  There will be creativity and eccentricity and ample restlessness.  The person may think up a dynamic new invention but they will need to focus and be disciplined to push through the restlessness.

And Mars of course is / was that catalytic energy that is the spark, setting off the negative karma.  Maybe you have Jupiter / Uranus / Pluto in hard aspect to your Moon for an entire month, but then Mars also comes along to oppose your Moon (in Libra in this case) and suddenly you find yourself angrily yelling at the General Manager of your company.  Maybe something small sets you off and you are indignantly telling off a friend (although it will usually be rebellion against authority with Uranus / Pluto / Mars being in play).  With such a huge aspect configuration going on, it will probably not be a small irritation that you feel.  Rather, that little itch might explode into a raging termination from your job!

So be careful.  Try to be mindful.  Go slow.  Be kind.  Be gentle.  Find a wise person and ally yourselves with them.  Get their advice about any major decisions you are making at the time!  Otherwise you might find yourself withdrawing from a very beneficial partnership or program or job.

This is really long, so I will stop now.

Thank you very much for reading to the end!  Hope it was somewhat informative or beneficial.

My last post was about having natal Jupiter in the 12th in the sign of Cancer.  And now, for the next few months, transiting Jupiter is also in the sign of Cancer, meaning for me Jupiter is traveling through familiar territory – the 12th house.  So what are some potential ramifications of this?

The 12th House in the larger scheme of Astrological Cycles…  Go back and peek at the previous post if you have not already done so, because that will detail what Jupiter in the 12th (as an independent Astrological House) can mean.  Here I will detail what the 12th House means in relation to the other Houses.

In Western Astrology, the 12 Astrological Houses each describe and are associated with differing areas of life.  The 1st House is typically the beginning, the time and situation around one’s birth, and it is very self-oriented.  What is my path?  How do I go about treading my path will show up with the sign on the Ascendant and its aspects.

Likewise, as the 1st House is the beginning of a new cycle, the 12th House is the closure of the previous cycle.  That is why the 12th House is sometimes described as the Cosmic Dustpan.  Because that is where we are tidying up all the work done in the previous Houses and WE ARE PREPARING FOR A NEW CYCLE TO COME ABOUT.

But if you are like me, you are not entirely comfortable with the unknown!  We want some control.  We want some knowledge about what is around the corner.  This is why most of us do not go through huge upheavals during Jupiter’s transition from 12th to 1st.  (But we might say it is an upheaval when the Progressed Moon or Saturn go from natal 12th House to 1st.)  Generally speaking we will have some knowledge about what is around the corner, but the details will be missing.  For example…  I am going to start a new direction in school – graduate school maybe?  How am I going to pay for that?  Which school will accept me?  Where will I live?  Will I have to get a job while I am in school?  Etc…

Temptations as the 12th is associated with Neptune…  For me, as I mentioned in my previous post, Jupiter in the 12th House is not always easy.  Yes it is Jupiter we are talking about, and yes in the 12th it is known as a Guardian Angel…  But too many Neptunian influences will be difficult to navigate through.  If we have Jupiter trine to our Sun, Moon or Venus from the 12th House, then we might be inclined to sit back and wait for the blessings to fall into our laps.  I am not saying we are lazy (look to Saturn’s placement to answer that question).  But we have learned that we are just fortunate enough to get by and we can be content with that.  This will not be everybody, but this could especially be true for people with Jupiter in Cancer making a trine to a Piscean Sun Moon or Venus (plus a couple of planets in Virgo).  You will be blessed in that case.  But how you go about using your potential is up to you.

I started off this section mentioning the Neptunian temptations because Jupiter in the 12th is in Neptune’s domain.  And again, this would be true more so for people with strongly Neptunian charts.  Look for a stellium (3 or more planets) in the 12th House or in Pisces and / or look to strong Neptune aspects (conjunct / square / opposite Sun, Moon, Mercury, Ascendant).  If we have a strong pull from Neptune when Jupiter is in the 12th house, instead of waiting with confident patience, knowing that we must consciously pause while a change of energy comes about, we might push on with frustration and tire ourselves out.  Or we could become frustrated with the waiting and say to the Universe, “Screw this!  I’m going to escape from this difficult waiting tonight!”  You will hear Neptune’s voice whispering in your ear – and if a lot of 12th house energy or Neptune / Pisces energy is flowing around your chart, then you should find a wise person and ally yourself with them.  I have heard it said that a Dragon – a powerful, wise and compassionate person is hard to find, but if you know of a Dragon in your neighborhood (an authentic spiritual teacher might very well be a Dragon), then you should seek them out.  Especially during Jupiter’s transits through your 12th House!

When Jupiter is in the 12th House, see what forms of self care are both easy and kind to our selves.  We can take a short bath.  We can take a quick nap instead of using the computer to distract ourselves.  Maybe we can go for a nice walk or a short hike?  When you hear Neptune’s silky seductive voice whispering in your ear, move your awareness down into your heart.  What does your body want?  What does your heart need?  Maybe sleeping would be a better idea than watching that Star Wars marathon…

Feeling uncertain about the future but resting in the immediately present blessings…  When Jupiter is in the 12th House, typically things will work out quite well within the next year.  When Jupiter actually crosses the Ascendant, things will have been gradually clearing up and by that point, you will know what direction to pursue and how to go about that pursuit.  We will probably be able to wait patiently while Jupiter is transiting the 12th House, but like I mention above, who is good at waiting patiently with confidence?  This requires that we TRUST the process and trust the Universe to provide for us.  And frankly, at times, that can be terrifying!  Most of us use some form of distraction to pass the time.  We do not like the word “bored.”  We would rather spend an hour on Facebook than lie around waiting for the Universe to show us our path  🙂    But if you can slowly start to realize the ways in which we take a detour from our path, then we can start to do self care or spiritual practices which help us stay present and aware.

I have my Natal Jupiter in the sign of Cancer, in the 12th house.  Now let me unpack what this means.

What is Jupiter about?

Jupiter is the jovial, optimistic, speculating, the-grass-is-always-greener-on-the-other-side-of-the-fence, wanderlust-filled, adventuring, mental pioneering, broadener of horizons.  Typically, Jupiter is seen as one of the sources of enthusiasm in the astrology chart.  Does your Jupiter trine your Sun Moon or Mercury?  If so, you may be prone to bouts of enthusiastic delight.  🙂  Also, Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system and it is the only planet which actually gives off energy by itself (without the Sun being involved).  It’s size indicates how it tends to expand our thoughts about what is possible.  Jupiter can push the envelope as it were and this can definitely show up with a potential to gamble when we have a strong Jupiter (or in fire signs).  Although in this case – a watery sign like Cancer and a diffuse house like the 12th, gambling may not be indicated.

Jupiter in Cancer?

Jupiter is exalted in the sign of Cancer.  What does exalted mean?  This is the second most potent placing for the planet to be.  Jupiter rules Sagittarius.  Meaning it is very strong in that pioneering, studying (sometimes know-it-all sign), adventuresome fire sign, but it is also strong in the sign of Cancer.  Why?  Because Cancer is all about nurturing and taking care of our loved ones – be they family members or close friends and associates.  When Jupiter’s natural expansion encounters Cancer’s natural love of nurturing, it is a good combination, let me tell you.  In Buddhism, the word for the “highest” altruistic motivation is called Bodhicitta, which means the mind which wishes for all sentient beings (seen and unseen, known and unknown) to attain happiness and complete enlightenment.  It is a very powerful motivation.  However, most of us (myself included) have a difficult time maintaining strong Bodhicitta because we feel slighted by anger or jealousy or not getting our way (etc…).

Well Jupiter in Cancer has a natural leaning toward an altruistic motivation.  You will not find many people with Jupiter in Cancer with a powerful cutthroat mentality unless it shows up in multiple other areas of the chart.  Jupiter in Cancer types will be natural cooks, care takers, nurses, teachers, healers, and / or realtors (Cancer has a Lunar connection to the 4th house of land and real estate as well).

Jupiter in the 12th house?

Jupiter in the 12th house is said to be the Guardian Angel of the astrology chart.  Why is this?  Because the 12th house is the most mysterious of the Houses.  It is where we subconsciously work against ourselves.  It can also indicate a natural proclivity toward spiritual practices and awareness.  It can even indicate psychic abilities (whether the individual wants them or not).  Keep in mind that the 12th house is strongly associated with Neptune (and Pisces).  Previously, before Neptune took over Pisces’ rulership, Jupiter ruled the sign of the bonded dual Fishes.  So Jupiter in the 12th house is not much of a detriment when looking at planetary strengths.  Normally all planets (save Saturn) lose strength when they are tenanting the 12th house.  But Jupiter can do okay there.

Jupiter in the 12th is watered down though.  You will not often find crazy dare devils who are risking their lives deep into their 40’s and 50’s with this placement.  Depending on what the 5th house and its ruler look like, you might take a few risks, but this individual will probably realize the fragility of the human condition sooner rather than later.  And yes, I speak from personal experience…  Therefore a watery Jupiter in a watery house is not going to be the wildly adventurous or overly jovial type (unless other strong indications exist in the chart).

So…  My Jupiter in the 12th, in the 29th degree of Cancer indicates that I have the potential for spiritual awareness, a natural proclivity toward giving and altruism, a desire to nurture those who I care about and I might even have innate healing abilities.  Hhhmmm.  Well this all sounds great so far right?!  And it is.  I am quite blessed.

So why am I hesitating?  Because Jupiter in the 12th house indicates a strong leaning toward a nebulous Neptunian nature.  And then if this individual (me) is a Pisces, which I am, with Neptune squaring his natal Sun, which I have, then there is often times too much Neptune going around.  And what does this mean?

Neptune seeks to transcend this dense world of relative reality we live in – in other words, Neptune seeks to transcend planet Earth and all the physical phenomena that come with living on this great planet.  Neptune is the escapist, the addict, the artist, the seeker, the poet, the romantic and the mystic.  But it is never the pragmatic realist  🙂   Sorry folks.  So that is why it has taken me at least 35 years to begin to realize what I am doing on this planet.  And this waiting is often times hell.  I would rather push push push and accomplish something (this pushing is probably Saturn talking by the way, or an unconscious double bind speaking), even if it feels empty down the road than sit around and wait for my energy to rise.  (Because Neptune can also indicate a watered down immune system where your energy will literally wax and wane.)

With all that said, Jupiter in the 12th house in Cancer is an incredible blessing.  I am in contact with my spirit guides.  I do not “hear” them directly yet, but I have spent a lot of time working on embodying and becoming more grounded.  So I feel it in my body if a decision is way off the mark.  I will get a quick head-ache if I make a severe detour from my path.  And my body suffers if I waste too much time with less-than-wholesome pursuits.   🙂

I hope this speaks about Jupiter in Cancer and / or Jupiter in the 12th house a little.  Let me know if you have comments on this subject.

Thanks for reading!
