My plan is to teach an in-person group in Charlottesville, Va. Starting August 28th, Friday afternoons from 2 – 5 pm, going through October 2nd.
And then about a month later, starting in late September, I will start an online cohort going through similar material. The online version will be 90 minutes long, probably Thursday evenings from 7 – 8:30 pm on Zoom. Due to the shorter sessions, I will split the material into two parts.
I am very excited to be leading this course in the fall. In this Intro-to-Mystery School level course, we will go deeper into each sign and planet. We will look at the personality level, shadow material, and soul level work of each sign, going far beyond “pop astrology” definitions and sign traits. It will be a fresh take on the elements, from an esoteric and spiritual astrology perspective. There will be lots of time for questions and answers and rich discussion.
Due to the rich material, and the depth, this course requires an application. This journey of initiation will benefit all levels of astrologers. Complete beginners are welcome, provided you are willing to do some homework. What is required is having done some honest inner work – whether in the form of talk therapy, somatic work, contemplative practice, deep yoga practice, etc. I want participants to be able to sit with not knowing and possible discomfort without being destabilized. I will provide a 30-page prep guide that will allow participants to review if they don’t have a lot of astrological language / experience.

This six-session, 18-hour in-person course moves through all twelve signs and their planets across three distinct layers of meaning that traces a single arc from personality to shadow work through soul- level awareness. The zodiac here is the outer shell of an inner journey.

Online Version of the Course:
I will break this course up into two parts. Part One will be 6 weeks long – six 90-min zoom sessions covering Aries – Virgo. Part Two will be similar, six 90-min zoom sessions for 6 weeks, wrapping up the Zodiac through Pisces.
Part One will start in late September. Part Two would most likely start in November / December.
Cost: In-person course (18 hours, six 3-hour sessions) $900
In-person course limited to 12 participants max. There is a sliding scale option for a few participants, let me know if you need this.
Online Version Cost: $450 for Part One if we have 6 – 12 participants, $300 if we have 13 – 20 participants. Same price points for Part Two.
Online Course: Group size will be limited to 20 people max. If we get more than 9 participants, I will have a competent assistant holding space so we can go deeper.
About each session:
Each session opens with a guided somatic practice matched to that session’s theme. Going deep often means going slow. We will listen to our inner rhythms. This is not a survey of astrology. It is an initiatory path. We will hold the material carefully, allowing time and space for the material to metabolize.
Influence & Lineage
The three-layer framework draws directly on Alice Bailey’s esoteric astrology, particularly her esoteric rulership assignments, and on Isabel Hickey’s spiritual astrology. Both authors treated the chart not as a personality profile but as a record of the soul’s path. Kirby has studied, practiced, and extended their work through his own contemplative practice in the Drikung Kagyu Vajrayana Buddhist lineage and through over two decades of somatic clinical work. Optional supplemental reading will be shared with registered participants for anyone wishing to go deeper alongside the course.

Complete beginners to astrology are welcome as every concept is built from the
ground up. Prior inner work is required: therapy, somatic practice, contemplative
practice, or equivalent. This course is not suited to those in acute crisis, or to those
seeking a first introduction to self-reflective work.
