Hello Dear Readers,
I have been working on my upcoming class, Trauma-Informed Astrology: Fundamentals One when I have time. Over the holidays, because of the virus numbers going up, we were watching (my partner’s) our daughter for about three weeks. Hence my not posting anything here for a bit. I am excited about this class though!!
Go back through previous posts here on my blog to see more about this class. Including my vision for Trauma Informed Astrology, along with the Mission Statement. Also, you can go here: https://www.mkirbymoore.com/classes.html
I am happy to complete the outline for the class, along with the first few classes in detail. Here are some of the great topics we will be covering:
It is my intention for these classes to be very safe space where people can drop in to resource and health. So in the first class we will have a solid discussion of what we need to feel safe!
Then we will be covering some Autonomic Nervous System ABC’s (basic material). Along will looking at how Sympathetic and Parasympathetic states interact – along with eventually talking about how these states manifest in the Astrology Chart!
We will talk about the Window of Tolerance (also known as the Range of Resilience or the Functional Range) and discuss how this interacts with the horoscope as well.
This will be an eight-week long course. So in eight classes, we can get through a decent amount of material! And in class 5 and 6, I have a treat in store for participants – looking at a couple of common presentations of ways people hold trauma. Looking at what is happening in the nervous system and how this compares to what is happening in the chart. Along with discussing a little bit about ways to work with this manifestation (or ways to benefit our clients).
Then in class 7, I will lead a demo – going slowly through someone’s chart for about 45 minutes, allowing time to drop in a somatic tool or two. Then we will debrief the demo in the second half of class – for instance, “why did I say that? What was I seeing behind the scenes as it were? What am I keeping in mind as I discuss a new topic in their chart? etc.” Let me know if you want to have your chart done for free – in exchange for recording it for the demo! I would prefer to work with someone who has access to healthy support – a counselor, acupuncturist, chiropractor, therapist, etc.
And finally in class 8, we will discuss the Polyvagal Theory – including a discussion on the Ventral Vagal Complex, the Social Engagement System, and the Dorsal Vagus. And of course how these concepts apply to the astrology chart! So lots of good material to work with. I am looking forward to insightful discussions and questions. Seeing what spirit moves us to share.
Thank you for reading and joining us on this journey!
