Prayers for Leh and Ladakh

Prayers for Leh and surrounding areas in Ladakh!  It sounds like the death count from the flash floods and resulting landslides continue to rise.  May supplies and support personnel be able to arrive in Leh with ease and swiftness.  May all who suffer there find nourishment and easier conditions.  Om Mani Padme Hung Hrih!

At first I was going to continue with my pilgrimage chronicles, but that seems insensitive at this time.  Expect more within a few days.  In the meantime, I would recommend doing Phowa practice or just saying the Mani Mantra (above – Om Mani Padme Hung).  Hold the intention to benefit and soften the shock for all sentient beings in Ladakh (and around the world), living and transitioning, seen and unseen.  Any prayers will help – thank you!

In the midst of this tragedy, having traveled to Ladakh and established a closer connection with the beautiful culture of the region, I feel increased sadness and weight for the terrible damage and loss from these recent natural disasters.  May the Earth be pacified (may we lessen the strain we put on her through pollution and war).  May all sentient beings know peace and happiness.

Amitabha Buddha, Buddha of Boundless Light (one aspect of the Buddha, known to help beings when they are dying or transitioning).
