Legit ways to donate to Nepal’s disaster relief

I am saddened by all the gruesome pictures coming back from the 7.9 earthquake which struck the Himalayan region on Saturday.  Nepal is going to need support for some time to come.  What I keep reading though is that money is the best way to support them – and unless we are a part of a crisis response team before the disaster, it is best that we not go over there to try to lend a hand.

Here are some good charities to donate to if you can:

http://www.mercycorps.org

http://www.redcross.org.uk/nepalearthquake

The first is a charity set up His Holiness the Gyalwa Drukpa.  The second is a charity which focuses on getting clean water to areas hit by natural disaster so they avoid water borne diseases and the third is the British Red Cross – they are on the ground in Nepal now and these are all legitimate charities.

Thank you!
